The PIPS Internship Program concluded the spring 2016 session with impressive briefings from the four interns. The interns spent the previous four months crafting and developing their Independent Research Projects (IRPs). Each intern developed their own IRP thesis, and with the guidance of the intern program coordinator and a mentor from the Institute’s academic center, they worked to produce a scholarly paper. Along with their IRP, the interns had the opportunity to interact with Senior Fellows and Board of Regents at the Institute and take part in many events sponsored by PIPS and other organizations. The spring interns engaged in topics which closely tie into PIPS’ interests and worked towards completing a thesis paper and briefing for the semester. Each IRP covered a different subject but all are relevant to the ecosystem we work in and support. Here are the titles of their IRPs:

Anna Jones, Georgetown University
(graduate student)
Attracting Cyber Warriors to the US
Military: How Can We Do Better?

Carly Brody, University of Maryland
The Development of a Framework for
Ex Post Evaluation

Olivia Gauthier, New York University
A Bloodless War: Information Warfare
in the United States

Michaela Noetzel, New York University
(transferring to Georgetown)
The Future of Electronic Warfare

Currently the summer 2016 internship session is underway. Eleven students from universities all over the country will be participating in the PIPS internship program. Interns will be interacting with members of CAI, CNS, CRI, RSEC, and the Executive Office.
